Ricardo La Volpe had an approach with the ANFP of Chile and could become the coach of the 'Roja'.

New name added to the long list of candidates to take over the Chile national team

Ricardo La Volpe, an Argentine coach, has entered the plans of the ANFP to take the reins of the 'Roja' towards Qatar 2022, following the departure of Juan Antonio Pizzi.

The information was revealed by Ricardo La Volpe himself in an interview with the Goal portal's Passion W. The Argentine strategist mentioned that the ANFP got in touch with him to discuss the possibility of assuming the technical direction of the Chile national team.

"They always call you when they are looking for a coach and I believe I have a good CV. I did well with Mexico in a World Cup, in a Confederations Cup, and my CV is there," said the coach to the mentioned media outlet.

Chile national team did not qualify for Russia 2018

As it is known, Ricardo La Volpe was recently removed from America de Mexico and is currently without a team. However, taking over the Chile national team would not be a problem for him since he has experience coaching national teams. Previously, he coached Mexico (2002-2006) and Costa Rica (2010-2011).

Although the ANFP has not commented on the matter, the Argentine coach dared to mention how his work plan would be if the option to coach the Chile national team is finalized.

"What I will need, though, is about two months to see local players because I already know Alexis, Vidal, Vargas, and Medel. We need to see what there is in Everton, Católica, U de Chile, O'Higgins, and all the teams. I am involved in football and I am always watching," he said.
