Vero Boquete faces these days with enthusiasm her first days at her new club, Bayern Munich.
After a well-deserved vacation, Vero joined the discipline of the Bavarian team a week ago to face a very demanding preseason, with many days of double sessions: "It was expected, a tough preseason because this season is long, with the League, Cup and Champions, plus the qualifying matches for the European Championship with Spain. The team is already complete. The last ones to join have been the Germans. Now we have two weeks without rest and then we will play a friendly tournament in Switzerland in which PSG, Lyon, and Zurich participate.
The Galician forward ensures that the welcome has been excellent and that what stands out the most is the high level of organization in the club: "You can tell that we are in one of the biggest clubs in the world. Everything is more professional. I live next to the Sports City and we eat there. The way of working is one of the most professional that I have known so far, along with the one that was in the Portland Thorns."
On Monday, she met Pep Guardiola for the first time and chatted with him for a while. Also with Thiago and Javi Martínez: "They were all very nice to me. As soon as Pep saw me, he said: 'Hey, Vero.' He asked me where I lived and how I was doing. Then Thiago and Javi Martínez came, whom I already knew from Twitter. He was the first one who welcomed me to the club on Twitter. Pep also asked me about the World Cup and I told him that we were now waiting for the change of coach."
Asked about Quereda's departure, the captain assures that it is unthinkable that the change does not happen, that she sees it as imminent: "I know that there has been talk of that, that they have been waiting for the Under-19 to finish to make the changes. I think it is close and we will probably know about it in the next few days. I don't think they will make us wait until September, although it is not something that worries us because it is unthinkable that the change does not happen. We know that it will happen and we just have to wait to see when it is made official."
Vero stated that she is super excited to return to the National Team: "We all really want it and we are super excited about qualifying for the next European Championship. We have a fantastic team and we are looking forward to coming back to give it our all. We are also very excited about the change in order to approach the qualification for the European Championship with a different mentality and energy." Spain is in group 2, along with Finland, Montenegro, Portugal, and Republic of Ireland, will play their first qualifying match on October 27 against Finland, away, so it is expected that there will be an initial concentration in mid-September, probably in the week of the 14th to the 20th, coinciding with UEFA dates.
The captain of the National Team also described as a "total success" the silver medal conquered by the Under-19s on Monday against Sweden and the title of European champions of the Under-17s: "The success is total and unique. It is true that the icing on the cake would have been to win that Under-19 European Championship, but what they have achieved is something to be super proud of. For all the players of the National Team, the successes of the Under-17s and Under-19s motivate us and make us believe that that level is possible in the National Team and that is our goal."
