Max Crocombe, goalkeeper of the modest Salford City, a team from the English sixth division, was sent off this Saturday for urinating during his team's match.

New Zealand's 24-year-old Crocombe saw the red card in the 87th minute of Salford's victory over Bradford Park Avenue by 1-2. Salford is owned by Peter Lim and former footballers Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt.

"The security person told him twice not to do it, and he did it anyway," said Colin Barker, assistant at Park Avenue stadium. "I didn't see what happened, and I think the referee didn't either, but he sent him off because the assistant referee communicated it," he added.

The New Zealand goalkeeper, who arrived last summer from Oxford, apologized through his Twitter account and said that his intention "was never to offend anyone."

"I would like to apologize for today's incident. I found myself in a very uncomfortable position and made a mistake that spoiled what has been a very deserving victory. My intention was never to offend anyone, and I would like to apologize to both clubs and all the fans. It will not happen again," Crocombe assured.
