This Madrid-Inter will be the tenth friendly in the history of both clubs.

Curiously, two of these matches were for the Bernabéu Trophy (2001 and 1993). They were different times, when there was no need to travel over 25,000 km to play this type of preparatory matches. Today, 14 years later, this Madrid-Inter will take place in Guangzhou, but the club still can't find a date to celebrate the legendary Bernabéu Trophy.

On September 1, 1993, Inter came to Madrid to celebrate the 15th Bernabéu Trophy.

The match inaugurated the stands with a capacity for 8,000 spectators. The Olympic medalist, Fermín Cacho, was the guest of honor. Ramón Mendoza was the president and Benito Floro was the coach. During the ninety minutes, Madrid failed to manage their advantage and underestimated their opponent when they were winning two-zero, and ended up begging for the time with the two-two draw. In the penalty shootout, the Nerazzurri took the title.

Inter had a second opportunity to play again for the Bernabéu Trophy. Eight years later, on August 14, 2001, with Florentino Pérez as president and Del Bosque as coach. On previous editions, the stadium was not full, so it was decided to give the tickets to season ticket holders. The match marked the return of Seedorf and the explosion of Adriano. The team, led by Héctor Cúper, took the trophy by winning 1-2.

The other matches

The first time they faced each other was on March 7, 1962 with a draw (2-2). In August of that same year, they played in Casablanca for the II Mohamed V Trophy with a victory for Inter (0-1). On May 29, 1982, they played the Copa Presidente de la República, with the Nerazzurri making it to the final by winning the match (1-0). On April 27, 1993, both teams traveled to England to play the I Fiorucci Trophy in London, and Madrid achieved victory (1-2). On July 31, 1999, Inter invited the white team for the IV Coppa Pirelli, with Madrid taking the victory (2-3). On August 10, 2013, Carlo Ancelotti's team scored three goals. The last match between them was on July 27, 2014, in the International Champions Cup, and the match ended in a draw (1-1).
