The board of the Bolivian club Jorge Wilstermann has confirmed the appointment of Peruvian coach Roberto Mosquera, who resigned after the stunning 8-0 defeat against Argentine club River Plate in the quarter-finals of the 2017 Copa Libertadores.

"He will continue to be the coach of Jorge Wilstermann. He did a great job with us and we can't forget so quickly the good moments he made us live," said Gróver Vargas, president of the 'aviador' club to the sports supplement of the morning newspaper La Razón.

After Thursday's defeat in Buenos Aires, the Peruvian strategist offered his resignation to the board of Jorge Wilstermann due to what he considered "a sad result that has saddened our players". The coach emphasized: "I have to take full responsibility".

The board's decision took into account Jorge Wilstermann's international campaign in the Libertadores under the guidance of the Peruvian coach and the team's performance in the local tournament, where they are currently leading.

Roberto Mosquera had the merit of eliminating strong teams like Peñarol from Uruguay, Atlético Mineiro and Palmeiras from Brazil in the early stages of the continental tournament, but could not prevail against River Plate at the Monumental, although he defeated them 3-0 as the home team.

In addition, in a public statement, Jorge Wilstermann denied rumors that the result against River Plate had been manipulated.

The 'aviador' club will focus on the domestic tournament to achieve a title that will classify them once again for an international tournament.
