Ambition often leads players to risk their physical well-being in order to achieve their sports goals. This is the case with Wes Welker, who is seeking to win one more championship ring despite having suffered three concussions in the past nine months.
In response to the veteran receiver's intention to continue playing for one more year, his former teammate in Denver, Champ Bailey, has made the following statements: "I know he could keep playing due to his conditions, but this possibility scares me. We're talking about very serious things, having head problems at such a young age should concern him more, he should think about the years ahead of him since he still has a long way to go." He later concluded: "I think he should hang up his helmet and never put on the player's uniform again."
Welker, who signed a two-year, twelve-million-dollar contract in 2013, saw his role diminish throughout the 2014 season after suffering a concussion during preseason. That was his third concussion, having experienced two more during the 2013 season. The training camps are about to begin and it will surely be the moment when Wes Welker makes his final decision about his present, and more importantly, about his future.
