New Zealand drew 2-2 with Solomon Islands and qualified for the Oceania playoff after achieving an 8-3 aggregate. It will fight for a spot in the 2018 Russia World Cup with the South American team that finishes in fifth place at the end of the Conmebol qualifiers.
Myer Bevan opened the scoring for New Zealand and an own goal by Haddis Aengari increased the lead. Solomon Islands equalized through two penalties, one by Micah Leaalafa and another by Henry Faarodo.
