The Liga MX naturalizes itself.

For the 2015 Apertura, there will be 50 naturalized players in the Mexican First Division, a significant increase compared to the previous semester.

The issue of naturalized players is not a simple matter in Mexican football, as for this Apertura 2015, 17 out of the 18 teams in the Liga MX will have five to ten players who were not born in Mexico.

For this Apertura 2015, a total of 467 players are registered with the Mexican Football Federation, of which 138 are foreigners.

Historically, Chivas are the only team that does not have foreign players on their roster; however, Carlos Salcedo is a player who was not born in Mexico but has Mexican parents.

During the past year, the number of naturalized players in the Liga MX increased by 20 percent. In the previous season, there were 42 naturalized players, while for this Apertura 2015, there will be 50 foreign players who will not occupy a foreign player slot in Mexican football. A total of 467 players are registered with the Mexican Football Federation for this semester, of which 138 are foreigners, and 38 percent of them are naturalized.
