This was Panama's performance, in which they had the pass to the final until the 89th minute, when referee Mark Geiger penalized Torres for a supposed handball, which ended in a tie. Mexico won in extra time.
Penedo: Responded when required by the Mexican forwards.
Pimentel: Tried to attack from various fronts, generated danger in the final stretch of the first half. Was cautioned towards the end. Defended like no one else, tracking the man or the ball.
Cummnings: Was in all areas of the field. Ran like no other and contributed interesting things to the attack. Brought down Orozco from behind and committed the second penalty for Mexico.
Torres: The team captain. Was excellent in defense. Also scored Panama's goal. Was awarded a rather dubious penalty and was cautioned after the second penalty for Mexico.
Nurse: Was left alone in the attack after Tejada's expulsion and took on defensive duties. Delivered. Made way for Abdiel Arroyo and was cautioned for time wasting during the substitution.
Tejada: Left his team with 10 men in the 24th minute when the match was tied with no goals. His dismissal was controversial.
Cooper: Always tried to go forward despite his team being reduced to 10 players. Helped out in defense alongside his teammates. Didn't stop running even during extra time.
Machado: Went unnoticed.
Davis: Supported in defensive duties, especially when his team was left with 10 men.
Quintero: Good performance, left it all on the field in Atlanta. Always alert when it was necessary to clear the ball and made a good impression when attacking.
Godoy: Being an attacking player, stuck to the wing to defend. Left everything on the field.
Arroyo: There was no time to evaluate him. Stayed in the attack in search of a Mexican mistake.
Henríquez: There was no time to evaluate him.
