Julio César Chávez showed his support for Rafael Márquez, who was accused by the United States government of having links to drug trafficking. The Mexican boxing legend hopes that his case will be resolved soon as it will be a delicate process.
"I truly stand with Rafael Márquez, he needs to clarify every single point in this matter because it is delicate. When the United States Treasury gets involved, it means they have the upper hand, but they can also make mistakes," he said in an interview with BeIN Sports.
The former world champion emphasized that he has been associated with similar cases of drug trafficking due to being from Culiacán. "I have had friends who were and still are narcos, but there is a difference between being friends with them and doing business with them. Thank God, I have never done the latter," he stated.
The former boxer is convinced by the words of the captain of the Mexican national team and shows his unconditional support for the football player.
"I am convinced that Rafael Márquez has nothing to do with what he is being accused of. I know him, he is a very good friend, and I stand with him," he concluded.
