Mexican Women's League

The Mexican Women's League is a reality that will make history within Mexican football; however, there are people behind it who never let the dream die. The tournament will take place from July 28th to November 25th, 2017, with 16 participating teams divided into two groups, facing each other twice to complete the 14 matchdays.

The First Women's Division in Mexico

The Women's First Division in Mexico emerged in December 2016, with the Mexican Football Federation taking the initiative, despite the effort and dedication invested by different people. Here are some of them:

MARIBEL DOMÍNGUEZ

Maribel Domínguez is a football player originally from the State of Mexico who started in the world of football at a very young age. In 2002, she emigrated to the United States to play for the Kansas City Mystics, due to the lack of support for women's football in her homeland.

In 2004, the Mexican had an agreement to sign with the Toros de Celaya, but FIFA prevented it, stating that there must be a division between men's and women's football. A year later, she joined Barcelona, ​​having a good performance at the club.

In 2006, she was chosen by FIFA as the sixth best female player in the world, making her debut the same year with Atlético de Madrid. In addition, she was the captain of the Mexican women's football team.

Maribel Domínguez is the player with the most matches played and the top scorer for the national team.

ESTHER MORÁN

Esther started in the world of football at a very young age, becoming the first Mexican to play football in Italy. At the age of 13, she participated in a World Cup in that discipline in 1971. After that, she signed with Alaska Lecce, considered the best foreign player.

ANDREA RODEBAUGH

Andrea Rodebaugh is a former Mexican football player and current coach of Xolos in the Mexican Women's League. She has been in charge of the team for approximately three years, where she has had a good performance at the club.

Rodebaugh has always made it clear that she would have loved to have had a female coach, but unfortunately that was not the case.

That is why the idea of ​​becoming a coach came up. The Mexican has been one of the people who always hoped that women's football would make history, and now it is a reality.
