The International Automobile Federation (FIA) will reduce the permitted tests during the Formula 1 pre-season to two, starting from 2016. According to Autosport on their website, the reason would be the increase in Grand Prix races that will be held next season, 21, three more than this year, and therefore the need to shorten deadlines.

This season will be the longest in history, starting on April 3 in Australia and ending on November 27 in Abu Dhabi. As highlights, the return of the German GP and the addition of a new circuit, Baku in Azerbaijan, should be mentioned. As a result of this extension in the F1 calendar, the pre-season will be reduced, even eliminating the mid-season tests.

According to Autosport, the test days will be reduced from 12 to 8, so the cars will only run two rounds with four days each, both at the Circuit de Catalunya, forgetting the Bahrain tests. Montmelo will host the first test from March 1 to 4, while the second one will be held from March 15 to 18.

This season, teams were able to perform three pre-season tests, two of them in Barcelona and one in Austria. Once the season started, F1 cars ran for two days in Montmelo and another two in Spielberg (Austria). From now on, these tests will be eliminated.
