José Luis Sierra has had to deal with numerous absences at Colo Colo at the start of the Copa Chile season and will have few positive news for the opening match of the Apertura tournament against Unión Española.
One of the main problems has been on defense and as confirmed by Dr. Jorge Cheyre, Paulo Díaz will not be able to play for Coto this weekend.
"Paulo is in the final stage of recovery from a lateral knee sprain. He has been working properly and will return to training this week, but he will be ready to play in about 10 more days," he explained on Radio ADN.
About the other injured center-back, Leonardo Cáceres, the doctor explained that "he has a knee overload. He is in a process that is going well although still with restrictions for a normal training. In two weeks he should be able to play."
Although Paulo Garcés has responded well in goal for the team, the quick return of Justo Villar is expected, who was injured in the Copa America. "He is training practically normally and in one to two more weeks he would be without problems. This weekend? It depends on how he responds to a tough training, where he may feel fear or pain".
In the match against Concepción on Sunday Humberto Suazo's replacement was surprising, as he asked for a substitution due to the poor condition of the field, and Cheyre justified the decision. "Humberto is getting better every day. The injury he had was complex. He has managed to compensate his muscles. Yesterday was a precaution. The field was very slippery and he felt some fear. We decided to take better care of him because we risked a recurrence of the injury."
