Édgar Méndez, new player of Cruz Azul for this season, will have to wait to make his debut in the Copa MX tournament, as he carries a suspension from Spanish football, where he was sent off in his last participation with Deportivo Alavés.
"The sanction was imposed in a match corresponding to the Spanish Championship / Copa de S.M. El Rey, so the player must serve said sanction in the Copa MX," the Mexican Football Federation reported in a statement.
Méndez will not be able to play on July 26th, when La Máquina visits Club Atlético Zacatepec, in activity of group 4.
The good news for the Spanish midfielder is that he will be eligible by Paco Jémez for the match of matchday 1 in Liga MX against Xolos de Tijuana.
