For Gerardo Flores, the history of Cruz Azul in this Apertura 2017 will be different.
The full-back is confident that in this second semester with Paco Jémez, things will go better, unlike the last six semesters where he couldn't reach the Liguilla.
"I believe that this story will be very different because of all the work that has been done and because of the mindset that we are putting into training. There hasn't been a mention of a points goal, but the team needs to create a different story, it needs to earn the respect of all the teams again. The expectations are high, the team is aiming high and I believe we are on the right path."
In this semester, Jerry was reintegrated into the squad, after not being registered last season. Regarding the title, Flores pointed out that it is not an obligation but an ambition that exists within the group.
"There is no team that prepares to not become champions. Cruz Azul, especially being a big team, prepared for that during this preseason, ultimately that is what we all want, to be champions. The expectation for a new tournament is high, especially for a team like Cruz Azul. I don't see it as an obligation, it is mainly an ambition to become champions."
THE INTERNATIONAL PASSES HAVE ARRIVED
The press office of Cruz Azul reported that the international passes of Spanish player Édgar Méndez and Chilean player Felipe Mora have arrived, so both players are now eligible for the match that La Máquina will play tomorrow against Tijuana.
It is very likely that the Spanish player will be part of the starting team chosen by Jémez tomorrow against Xolos, not so for the Chilean player, who due to a muscular problem couldn't train at the same level during the week and only today rejoined the rest of the group's training sessions.
