Since Pedro Troglio set his sights on Gino Guerrero, there has been much talk of the transfer of this winger to Universitario de Deportes, however Franco Navarro, UTC coach, made things clear before any negotiations.
"There is a lot of talk about Gino and his possibility of going to Universitario because at some point Troglio stated that he wanted to have him, but I don't think he will leave because he has a contract until the end of the year. The issue has not been raised because it does not go beyond journalistic information," Navarro said on 'Fútbol Como Cancha' on RPP.
The short squad that UTC has makes Gino Guerrero essential in the starting eleven and the coach of the 'Northern Hawk' is aware that if he leaves, the only one who could cover that position is a player of the same level. "They offer me 'Pana' Tejada (for Guerrero)," Navarro said, who also did not dismiss the option of Hernán Rengifo.
Navarro commented that Guerrero should stay in his team at least until the end of the year: "Clearly he is not leaving. He is just starting to make his mark here, he has to play here, he is part of this structure, in fact we want to improve this group because at some point I saw the bench and it was all new guys and some U20 players. This was in the first few matches when Baglivo, Callorda, and the foreigners were not there, even Vergara and Joao Villamarín had fractured hands and they have played 5 or 6 matches like this."
UTC will face Sporting Cristal this Sunday, July 16, at 11:00 am at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium.
