Rigoberto Uran wins stage 9 of the Tour de France

Rigoberto Uran emerged victorious on Sunday in a photo finish against local rider Warren Barguil, conquering the ninth stage of the Tour de France. The route proved to be as grueling as expected and resulted in at least a couple of chilling accidents.

Uran crossed the finish line in Chambery with a time of 5 hours, 7 minutes, and 22 seconds, almost at the same time as Barguil, who raised his arm and started celebrating, believing he had taken the victory.

"I was passing the control and they told me that I had won, I thought they were kidding," Uran told the television.

The photo confirmed that Uran's front wheel crossed the finish line just a few centimeters ahead. Uran is the 16th Colombian to win a stage of the Tour in history and climbed to fourth place in the general classification, 55 seconds behind British rider Chris Froome, who retained the yellow jersey as the overall leader but lost his fellow countryman and main support rider in the race, Geraint Thomas, involved in one of the accidents during the mountain stage.
