A goal from Uruguayan forward Jonathan Alvez in the 91st minute was enough for Barcelona to defeat the tough Palmeiras 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16.
Alvez made a calculated shot that made the Monumental stadium in Guayaquil explode in the first minute of added time in a match that was attractive because of the way both teams challenged each other.
The second leg between Ecuadorians and Brazilians will be played next Wednesday, August 9 at 07:45 p.m. (Peruvian time) at the Paulo Machado de Carvalho Municipal Stadium in Sao Paulo.
