Chile vs Portugal: A meeting of Pizzis
It sounds like a tired play on words. But it's true. The coach of the Chilean national team, Juan Antonio Pizzi, greeted a Portuguese forward named Pizzi.
It turns out that the Portuguese footballer Pizzi is nicknamed that in honor of Juan Antonio Pizzi. That's why when he saw him in the match between Chile and Portugal, in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup, he gave him a big hug.
"When I was young, Pizzi was a player for Barcelona who was in excellent form. And since I scored a lot of goals, they started calling me Pizzi in the neighborhood. On the day of the match, I want to give him a hug, but I want the Portuguese Pizzi to be in the final," said the Portuguese player before the Confederations Cup match.
Luis Miguel Afonso Fernandes, popularly known as Pizzi, currently plays for Benfica. In previous seasons, he defended the jerseys of Atlético Madrid and Deportivo La Coruña.
