Ruth Beitia finishes second in the Diamond League in Monaco and increases her lead in the overall standings of the competition

Before the race, she had five more points than Polish athlete Kamila Licwinko, and now she has six more points than Russian athlete Anna Chicherova, the reigning Olympic champion who beat her in the last meeting in Lausanne. Unless something catastrophic happens at the Ivo Van Damme Memorial in Brussels in September, Ruth will be the diamond winner.

Kuchina had a consistent performance and cleared all the heights on her first attempt: 1.80m, 1.86m, 1.91m, 1.94m, and 1.97m. On her second attempt, she cleared 2.00m but failed at 2.02m. She was the winner of the competition.

Ruth Beitia and Anna Chicherova had similar performances: they cleared 1.86m and 1.91m on their first attempts, and 1.94m and 1.97m on their second attempts. Both athletes had three unsuccessful attempts at 2.00m. It was a tie between them.

In the current standings after the race in Monaco, Ruth is still in first place with 12 points, followed by Chicherova with 6 points and Kuchina with 5 points.

In Brussels, the points are doubled, so Beitia is not yet the mathematical winner, but she has a very high chance of winning, unless there is a total collapse or an unthinkable turn of events.
