The positive test for Mayada and Driussi was due to hydrochlorothiazide, a medication used to treat high blood pressure. In this context, River Plate requested that the procedure continue with the confirmatory test, as the substance is not among the medications commonly used.

Pay attention to one detail. In these cases, the FIFA regulations state that only the player, not the team, shall be sanctioned. Therefore, Melgar will not benefit from obtaining the points.

The Argentine press stated that the club fears that the problem may be due to a batch of a vitamin complex used by the team, which could expose more River Plate players to positive tests.
