YMCA Celebrates "Guaycaciones 2017" Summer Courses in Torreón
As part of its 60th anniversary, the Christian Association of Young Men and Women of Torreón (YMCA) will celebrate its traditional "Guaycaciones 2017" summer courses from July 10th to July 28th and from July 31st to August 18th. All children from the Coahuila region, aged 3 to 13, are invited to participate.
The intention of the courses is to help children with their education and not just provide recreational activities or entertainment during the summer vacation.
The courses were presented on Wednesday morning by Jorge Garate, Secretary General of YMCA Torreón, who was accompanied by Dulce María Torres, course coordinator, and Dana Oliveros, youth leader of "Guay".
The cost of each course is 1,600 pesos, or 1,200 during the presale until July 3rd.
The activities that will be offered during the courses include Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Swimming, Soccer, Jazz, Aerial Dance, Traditional and Native Games, as well as Sustainable Crafts.
In swimming, there will be a special course for basic survival and water rescue, and for those who already know how to swim, their skills will be further developed. There will also be a competition.
Registrations can be made at the facilities of YMCA Torreón, located at Guillermo Prieto #6 in the Nuevo Torreón neighborhood, between 35th and Allende streets.
There will be a discount for those who enroll in the second course after completing the first one.
The maximum capacity for each course is 250 children. There will be a special course for 3-year-olds, with age-appropriate activities and daily swimming lessons.
