The statements of Dani Alves about Diego Maradona did not sit well with the 'Pelusa' family, and it was his daughter Dalma who came forward to respond to Alves' statements through a letter, in which she addressed each of the points that Alves criticized Maradona on.
He was ahead of everyone: the surprising farewell of Gonzalo Higuain to Dani Alves
Dalma, who is an actress and singer, stated that she agrees with the Brazilian when it comes to Lionel Messi: "I always said that falling into that comparison is for ignorant people. As an Argentine, I love Messi and always celebrate his victories", Dalma said in the letter.
She then addressed the issue of the Ballon d'Ors, and stated that "she felt sorry" to ask how many of those awards Maradona had, because during the time her father played, "they did not give that award to players who were not Europeans... Maybe you did not know that...", she added.
Regarding the controversy of the 'Hand of God', she was clear in saying: "Would you ask if you had the opportunity to see the other goal that my dad scored in that same match?", referring to the one that is considered the best goal in World Cups, when Diego Armando started in midfield and took on every English player to score a great goal.
Finally, she asked him to do her a favor, "and talk to some of your Brazilian football colleagues and ask who my dad is, I think many of them will be able to explain it perfectly", she concluded.
As I criticize my dad a lot, I also defend him and always will! Hopefully @DaniAlvesD2 has a moment to read me! pic.twitter.com/wxkjhDP5OE
