Alianza Lima suffered their first setback in the Apertura Tournament by losing 1-0 to Melgar at the Garcilaso de la Vega stadium in Cusco. The goal was scored by Argentine Emanuel Herrera in the 58th minute.
Coach Pablo Bengoechea rotated the team, but it didn't work. They only had two shots on goal against Diego Penny in the 90 minutes. Midfielder Luis Ramirez hit the post in the last minute.
Melgar, on the other hand, achieved their first victory in the tournament after two defeats at the start. Despite not playing in Arequipa, the 'Dominó' won three important points. They also prevented Alianza Lima from taking the lead.
