British Lewis Hamilton won the Canadian Grand Prix for the sixth time in his career and for the third consecutive year. Thus, the Mercedes driver is 12 points behind the leader of the world ranking, Sebastian Vettel.
Valtteri Bottas arrived in second place 19.7 seconds after Hamilton. With this, the Mercedes team took the top two spots on the podium, at a time when it is fighting Ferrari for the title.
Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull took third place for the third consecutive week and celebrated by drinking champagne from the shoe he wore during the race. He even shared a drink with actor Patrick Stewart, who hosted the post-race ceremony.
While Hamilton started from the top spot and was never threatened at the front, Vettel had to climb positions after his car was damaged in the front wing as a result of Max Vestappen cutting off his path at the start. An early pit stop left Vettel behind.
