The American motorcycle rider Nicky Hayden died on Monday at the hospital in the Italian city of Cesena, where he had been admitted since May 17th after being hit by a car, the medical center reported in a statement.
The conditions of the MotoGP World Champion in 2006 and Superbike rider with the Red Bull team have been critical since being hit while riding his bike with a group of friends in the Adriatic province of Rimini.
Hayden has been in the intensive care unit of the Maurizio Bufalini hospital in Cesena (center) due to the serious multiple injuries he suffered from the accident, including a "severe brain injury".
The accident. The rider, who died at the age of 36, was hit by a car at an intersection in the town of Misano Adriatico, a few kilometers from Rimini, and suffered severe injuries to the skull and chest.
His accident shocked the sports and motorcycle world and riders such as Spanish riders Marc Márquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa or Italian rider Valentino Rossi expressed their condolences for what happened.
