LeBron James surpasses Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the playoffs scoring list
LeBron racked up 39 points and surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the historical list of playoff scorers, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a crushing 125-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
And while he may not win the Most Valuable Player award for the regular season, he once again proves that May and June belong to him.
"I feel pretty good," he commented, downplaying his postseason start. "Just grateful to be able to make some plays tonight to help us win another game."
Just like last year in the conference finals, the Cavs lead the Raptors 2-0, who will have to find solutions or else this series will be over in a flash.
Toronto suffered a beating for the fifth consecutive time in Cleveland in the playoffs, with an average margin of 24.2 points.
"We'll take the beating and go home," commented Raptors coach Dwane Casey.
The third game of the series will be played on Friday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, where the Raptors will try to react with the support of their fans.
But they will have to deal with James, victorious on the road in 27 consecutive series and determined to leave Toronto behind. The Cavs star made 10 of his 14 field goal attempts.
James came in search of 25 points to surpass Abdul-Jabbar, and surpassed the legendary center with a three-pointer in the third quarter, in which he scored 17 points to give Cleveland a 26-point lead. Now, James (5,777 points) only trails Michael Jordan (5,987), the player he has been compared to since his adolescence, on the all-time playoff scoring list.
