Jeff Hardy Confesses to Being Under the Influence during a TNA Match
Professional wrestler Jeff Hardy confesses that during a TNA (Impact Wrestling currently) match in 2011, where he lost to Sting in just over a minute, he was under the influence of drugs.
Struggles with Substance Abuse
The American wrestler did not hide his drug problems and actually had several issues with WWE because of it. He was suspended and went through rough times.
The Unforgettable Night at Victory Road
Hardy shared his story with fellow wrestler Colt Cabana, who has a podcast on the internet. On that night at Victory Road, Hardy went into the ring while under the influence of drugs. That's why his colleague (and idol, in Hardy's words) Sting decided to end the match as soon as possible, something that Hardy himself appreciated.
Thankful for Sting's Decision
"It's the best thing that could have happened to me, it made me react... it was a decisive night, I really appreciate Sting for making that decision," commented Hardy.
"I was taking Somas (a narcotic), I was messed up, I couldn't even wrestle. It's the stupidest thing I've ever done. I couldn't wrestle with my idol Sting. He did the right thing when he took me down and covered me," he added.
A New Chapter
Now, Hardy is drug-free. That episode in his career made him change his way of living, and he is enjoying his time in WWE.
A Clean and Blessed Life
"I've been clean ever since. I'm back home (WWE) with my brother Matt, and I do what I love every day. I'm blessed," he concluded.
