- Once a few months have passed, what assessment do you make of last year?
- Last season was perfect because we did a very nice job. We are going to play the Champions League now and we will do it after winning another Europa League, the fourth in a club that has something very special with this competition. Those were the objectives I had when I arrived.
- Did you imagine that something like this could happen in your first year in Spain?
- It is difficult to say in advance what was going to happen. When I arrived in Seville, my objective was to play well, contribute something to the team, and achieve something great. No one can think that they will arrive at a club and win a title in their first year, but it is true that since I arrived in Seville, I felt very optimistic.
- How do you explain that almost everyone who arrives new performs so well and so quickly?
- The group works very well, the atmosphere in the dressing room is incredible, and it is very easy for newcomers to fit into this team. We are a family off the field and that is noticeable.
- And how do you explain that the squad changes so much every year?
- It is difficult. Every year, Sevilla loses its best players, 7 or 8 leave, new ones come in... Every year it is the same, but it works. The club works well and the dressing room does everything it can to make everything go smoothly.
- This year, in addition to playing in midfield, you have to act as a translator for some players like Kakuta or Nzonzi...
- Yes, there are many French players and it is important for the adaptation of the new ones that some of us can act as translators, although communication is also important; soon they will speak Spanish.
- What can be asked of Sevilla in the Champions League?
- We are working very hard to achieve something important. We are not going to the Champions League just to go for a walk, to play five games and then go back home. We want to be remembered because we worked hard last year to play in it and now we cannot waste this opportunity.
- Is the Super Cup against Barcelona seen as a reward for last year or as the first title of the season?
- For me, it is just another title and like all titles, I want to win it. It won't be easy because we all know Barcelona, but I want to win.
- As someone who is already half Sevillian, you must have informed yourself about what the derby means in the city...
- I am delighted to be able to play it this season. I know the history and the situation of both clubs in Seville and I want to know what it's like to win the derby.
- They threatened to close the Sánchez Pizjuán.
- Football is for the fans. They are the most important part, without them there is no football.
