International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

On April 6, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is celebrated. This year, they present 'WHITE CARD', a campaign that has been joined by different disciplines.

Since 2013, the UN has designated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. And this 2017 didn't go unnoticed, as a breakfast was held in Mexico City with representatives from different organizations that have joined this campaign such as:

  • Mauricio Sulaimán (President of the World Boxing Council)
  • Carlos Alazraki (President of Alazraki Network)
  • Salvador Villalobos (Executive President of the Council of Communication)
  • Marion Reimers (President of Versus.mx)
  • Alejandro Hutt (Director of Alazraki Sports)
  • Jorge Carlos Ramírez (Federal Deputy)

Among the attendees were also Arturo Olivé, Director of the NFL office in Mexico, and Juan Carlos Vázquez, El hijo del Fantasma.

"This sport has already joined, even when many people think it is violent, but it is highly formative and has a great social impact," said Juan Carlos Vázquez, from LFA.

One of the main objectives of this campaign is to combat violence and bring families together through sport.

"Sport leads us to pure good things, and seeing so many organizations united for the development of sport and peace is something that motivates us a lot," commented Mauricio Sulaimán.

And they assure that by April 2018, it will be a much larger celebration, with baseball and soccer games; boxing matches, with all kinds of events celebrating the color white and the unity of all, starting soon in some events where white gloves will be worn; referees will use shirts of the same tone, and there is also the idea of ​​holding an award ceremony for sports with social responsibility.
