Sampaoli, the main candidate to replace Danny Blind in the Netherlands
Despite the difficult weeks that Jorge Sampaoli has experienced in Sevilla, the Argentine coach continues to be highly praised for his great campaign with the Chilean National Team and now with the Andalusian team.
According to the Dutch media AD, Sampaoli is one of the main candidates to replace Danny Blind, the coach who was fired on March 26th after the surprising defeat against Bulgaria, which left the 'Oranje' far from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
It is rumored that the Dutch Federation has already contacted Sampaoli, whose demands would be 1.5 million to leave Sevilla next May.
However, this option seems unlikely considering that since 1978, a non-Dutch coach has not led the 'Oranje' (Note: Austrian Ernst Happel), as it is a tradition for a coach from that country to lead the team.
If Sampaoli were to join the Netherlands, his task would not be easy, as the team currently sits in fourth place in Group A with 7 points, being surpassed in the standings by France (13), Sweden (10), and Bulgaria (9).
It is worth noting that this is not the only important offer for the 2015 America's Cup champion with the Chilean National Team, as Argentina also expects Sampaoli to be their coach in the near future.
