Swiss Roger Federer advances to the Miami Tennis Tournament Round of 16
Federer, the fourth seed, showed strength and dominance right from the start, defeating Argentine Juan Martín del Potro in two sets.
A break in each set was enough for Federer to secure the match against an opponent who couldn't capitalize on the few opportunities he had.
In the first set, with Federer leading 5-3, Del Potro had four break point opportunities, but failed to convert them. Thus, the Swiss player took a set where he was always ahead on the scoreboard.
A similar situation occurred in the second set, with Federer leading 4-3 and serving. Del Potro had another break point chance, but once again couldn't convert, and the former world number one didn't let it slide.
With this victory, Federer extends his head-to-head record against Del Potro to 16-5.
In the next round, the Swiss player will face Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut, who advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating local player Sam Querrey with scores of 3-6, 6-2, and 6-3.
